A great cut or colour only looks its best if it's looked after properly at home. We asked our stylists what they most often recommend to clients between visits.
Use the right shampoo and conditioner for your hair, not just what's on sale
Fine, coloured, curly and damaged hair all need different formulas. Using the wrong one is one of the most common reasons hair doesn't look as good at home as it did leaving the salon.
Don't skip the conditioner on fine hair
Fine hair still needs conditioner — just a lightweight, root-avoidant application rather than skipping it altogether, which can leave hair dry and more prone to breakage.
Heat protect, every time
If you're using heat tools regularly, a heat protectant isn't optional — it's one of the simplest ways to extend the life of a cut or colour.
Space out washing where you can
Over-washing can strip colour and natural oils faster than necessary. A good dry shampoo between washes helps stretch things out without sacrificing how hair looks.
